Morocco's most special experience

Sleep in the Sahara, next to Morocco's highest dunes – night in the Merzouga desert

Spending a night in the Merzouga desert is the moment all our travellers remember. The Erg Chebbi dunes reach 150 metres high and change colour with the light: golden in the afternoon, reddish at sunset and silver under the moon.

We are a local agency from Merzouga: our team was born among these dunes. We welcome you in the village, accompany you by camel to the camp and take care of every detail of the night: the welcome tea, the Berber dinner, music around the fire and sunrise from the top of the dunes.

  • Camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset.
  • Welcome tea and traditional Berber dinner (tagine, harira soup, fruit).
  • Berber music and drumming around the fire.
  • Night in a standard, superior or luxury tent.
  • Sunrise from the top of the dunes and breakfast at the camp.
  • Return by camel or 4x4 to the village of Merzouga.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the night in the desert

Can't find your answer? Write to us and we'll reply within minutes.

Ask on WhatsApp Sunset from the tent
What time does the experience start?

We meet in Merzouga 1–2 hours before sunset: around 4 pm in winter and around 6 pm in summer. We'll confirm the exact time for your date.

How long is the camel ride to the camp?

About 1 hour 30 minutes. We stop on top of a dune to watch the sunset before reaching the camp.

What is the difference between the standard, superior and luxury camps?

The standard camp has simple tents with beds and shared bathrooms. The superior camp has private tents with a bathroom and shower inside. The luxury camp adds larger, decorated tents, king-size beds, a terrace and more attentive service.

Can I go to the camp by 4x4 instead of by camel?

Yes. If you'd rather not ride a camel (for example with small children or elderly people), we take you to the camp by 4x4.

Where do I leave my big luggage?

It stays in storage at our guesthouse in Merzouga. You only take a small backpack with what you need for one night to the camp.

Is it cold at night in the desert?

From November to March the nights are cold (they can drop below 5 °C). The tents have thick blankets, but we recommend bringing warm clothes. In summer the nights are pleasant.

Is there electricity and wifi at the camp?

The superior and luxury camps have electricity to charge your phone. Wifi is not guaranteed: it's a good time to disconnect.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, it's a very family-friendly experience. We adapt the camel ride to the children's age or do the journey by 4x4.

How do I get to Merzouga?

You can come by car, by bus to Merzouga, or with our private transport from Errachidia (airport, 2 h), Fes (7–8 h) or Marrakech (on a 2- or 3-day route).

How do I book?

Write to us on WhatsApp (+212 673 85 10 91) or by email with the date, the number of people and the camp you prefer. We'll reply with availability and the price, and when you confirm we'll explain how to pay.

“An incredible night at the camp”

We chose the one-night option in the desert. The Berber dinner was delicious, the music around the fire was magical and the starry sky unforgettable.

“Two nights in the Sahara, perfect”

We chose two nights and it was the best decision. The 4x4 tour of the dunes, the visit to the nomads and the second night at the camp were the highlights of the trip.
